    How are decisions about what students are allowed to do on UCSF Campus being made?

    We have sessions planned during ARCH week 6 where we will cover options for a gap year and let students know where to go for more information. School of Medicine. If students want to do some P/F clerkships early in their fourth year, they can do those first in preparation for a graded clerkship rotation later in the year.

    If the pandemic evolves in a positive trajectory and the SF community continues to “open up” during the year, how does the School of Medicine plan to proactively adapt the curriculum during the fall quarter to allow for more in-person activities? 

    With the closure of the Medical Student Center, our Food Security Program is being managed electronically. Campus activities are restricted to essential classroom activities unless you are a student whose faculty mentor has approved program. If you do not have letterhead, be sure to include your current contact information, Letter writers, or their designees, must upload letters in PDF format via the ERAS Portal.

    It is not a good idea to reach out to multiple programs to tell them that they are your number one choice because this is obviously not true.

    No. The scores are usually reported 3-4 weeks after taking the exam. We need to preserve clinical sites to ensure that the rising fourth years and graduating class meet the clinical requirements they need to stay on track for graduation. Recommendations include administering a school-wide survey to assess students’ needs related to mental well-being. Some are telehealth, some are fully operating or will be by July, some are not operating at all.

What is the status on Step 2 CS? 

COVID projects are reviewed rapidly, but non-COVID proposals are being reviewed as well.  

In addition, when students can return to more on-campus activities, the Deans of all the Professional Schools and the Graduate Division will work together for all of their students. If a student feels uncomfortable about in-person interactions, mentors must be able to re-assign to alternative projects.

If I am engaged in virtual clinical experience and I live in a small or crowded apartment, how do I maintain HIPAA?

In the current setting, the observational parts of the physical exam are still able to be practiced and that will continue to be a part of the curriculum.
